In sunshine bimbled homeward I,
A morning walk beneath vernal sky
Beside the laughing Kelvin’s waters,
Where ran jogging mothers and daughters,
A husband and, I assume, his wife,
Her pink tee shirt reading, “Race For Life”;
The trees at last in summer leaf
And daffodils waving above the heath.
The famous groves were ringing with birdsong
Waking after a winter too long
And joining my jolly bimbling song.
