Some mathematical fun. When you multiply a number by nine then add together the digits of the result will come to nine, thus 3×9 =27, 2+7=9. If you add nine to a number the result will reduce back to the original number, thus 3+9=12, 1+2=3. Nine is, of course, the square of three, I like that nine makes a uniform square three points on each side, three on the cross, and three on the diagonal beautifully elegant. Nine is the last single digit, the completion of a cycle and beautifully balanced.

I have been thinking about completion, today I visited my best friend and the best man at my wedding. He is about to retire, I am about to be given redundancy this is a time of endings. It is also a time of beginnings. It is the nature of life that endings are transitions from one state to another. It is possible to see redundancy or retirement as an end, but it is equally possible to think of them as opening up new opportunities. There are those whose lives lose purpose when they lose their employment, some find it hard to see new possibilities because of the limits of their thinking.

Nine is the end of a cycle, it is balanced, strong, complete, a strong foundation upon which to build a future. However the strength of the foundation is based upon its being complete. To move forward one has to be free of the past, any clinging incompletions, attachment or resentments merely hold one back. Now is the time to take the past, transform it into good memories and move forward to the next adventure.
