Today’s poem is a bit of nonsense, but the first two lines sprang unbidden to my mind and mischief did the rest.

Litotes In The Senate
Litotes, in the Senate, stood to speak.
In arguments contradictory, the Greek
Sought not to inflame the less than peaceful
Crowd who were unstirred by the disgraceful,
Shameful, redundant and repetitious
Pleonasm of the less than auspicious
Previous poet’s more than suspicious
Peroration. Alliteratively
Always alluding, bold Litotes, he
Calmed the crowd. With a new parameter
Metrically in the old pentameter
